Carlomagno

 Carlomagno, Carolus Magnus, Carlos el Grande, rey de los francos y emperador del Oeste Europeo, nació en el año 742, y vino a ser un indiscutible jefe de los grandes centros de poder en la historia, el Sagrado Imperio Romano. Un conquistador agresivo, sagaz político y hombre de Estado Yy un General muy afortunado, Carlomagno estableció la escena de un vasto imperio que, en diferentes formas, ha alcanzado el siglo XX.

Tizona Cid

" Tizona " y " Colada ", ambas espadas pertenecieron al Caballero castellano Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, conocido como " EL CID CAMPEADOR " Siglo XI. Prototipo de caballero y fiel vasallo que participó con el rey Alfonso VI en la conquista de Toledo, y posteriormente conquistó a los árabes la ciudad u el Reino de Valencia.

Roldán

Su figura ha pasado a los anales de la historia y de la épica gracias a la batalla de Roncesvalles(15 de Agosto de 778). Las tropas de Carlomagno,  volviendo del sitio de Zaragoza, sufrieron en el paso pirenaico de Roncesvalles un ataque de tribus vascas ayudadas por musulmanes. La estrechez del paso y el peso  del armamento del ejercito carolingeo favorecieron el éxito de la emboscada sobre la retaguardia de los francos. En este trágico episodio murió Roldan, pero la leyenda le hizo pasar a la literatura (Chanson de Roldan, Orlando Furioso, etc...) como el paladín que con su espada mágica " Durendal " , regalo de su señor Carlomagno, y el  cuerno " Oliphant " se enfrentó a 100.000 sarracenos. A golpe de espada abrió un paso entre las montañas pirenaicas que aún hoy se llama " Breche de Roland ".

Charlemagne

Charlemagne, Caroulus Magnus, Charles the Great, king of Franks and Emperor of Western Europe, was born in 742 a.D. and became a famous comander and one of the great centers of power of history: The Sacred Roman Empire. An agressive conqueror, wise politician, stateman and fortunate general, Charlemagne set the shape of the vast empire that, in different ways, has reached the XX Century.

Tizona - Colada

Both swords belonged to the castilian knight Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, known as " EL CID CAMPEADOR " in the XI Century. He was the prototype  of the knight and loyal vassal who took part with his king Alphonse VI in the conquest of Toledo. Subsecuently he conquested the City and kingdom of Valencia to the moors.

Roldan

His memory has been kept in the memory of history an epic, thanks to the Roncesvalles battle (August 15th, 778). The Charlemagne's troops, coming back from the siege of Saragoza, sufered in the Pirenaic pass of Roncesvalles an attack from the vascue tribes helped by moors. The narrowness of the pass and the weight of their weapons favoured the success of this attack on the carolingean rearguard. In this tragic event Roland died,  but legend took him to the memory of literature (Chanson de Roldan, Orlando Furioso, etc...) as the hero who faced 100.000 sarracens with his magic sword " Durendal " , a personal present from his lord Charlemagne, and with his horn " Oliphant ". Legends say that with a blow of Durendal, he opened a pass on the Pirenees, known today as "Bréche de Roland".
